Welcome to Day 1 of my 30 Day Pokémon Challenge. Before we start, I would like to make you aware that this will cover all but one day of the month of May, and also that I haven’t played any mainline Pokémon games since Black 2/White 2. You can find out more about that here. You won’t see any Pokémon from beyond that Generation since I have limited familiarity and experience with them.
With all that being said, today’s challenge is My Favourite Pokémon.
I actually have 2 favourite Pokémon, and both are from the first generation. Pidgeot and Charizard.

Pidgeot
I’ve always had a fondness for birds, and this extends to bird Pokémon. Pidgeot is the final evolution in the Pidgey line, and boy do you see a lot of Pidgeys, especially early on in Pokémon Red and Blue. I almost always end up with a Pidgey in my team for a long time, using it later with Fly to flap my way across the world, apparently at Mach 2 (which boggles my mind when you think of a 10 year old flying at Mach 2 on the back of a big bird). It’s never going to be top tier as a battling Pokémon but will always have a feathery place in my heart. Mega Pidgeot looks glorious, although I am not at all familiar with it.

Charizard
Ah Charizard. The most rebellious of Ash’s Pokémon and one of the original starting evolutions. Dragon in design and firey in nature, you won’t find many who don’t like a Charizard. My starter of preference, although challenging to play in the first few hours, the Charmander line moves from a cure childhood, through an awkward and gangly teenage period into the boulder-melting adult who finally knows who they are. Charizard is a Pokémon you earn the respect of, and then you’ve got fierce and loyal friend.
Tomorrow, the opposite of today. My least favourite Pokémon.
